Lisa Rizzo is a poet and middle school language arts teacher who manages to combine her love of words and poetry with her day job. Born in Texas, she grew up in Chicago and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area 32 years ago.  She now lives in San Mateo, CA. She is the author of In the Poem an Ocean (Big Table Publishing, 2011). Her work also has appeared in such journals as The Lucid Stone, 13th Moon, Writing for Our Lives, Earth’s Daughters, Bellowing Ark and Calyx Journal. After attending 2011 A Room Of Her Own writing retreat, Lisa became a co-contributor to the AROHO Speaks: Writer-to-Writer interview project (www.arohospeaks-writertowriter.posterous.com). Two of her poems received 1st and 2nd prizes in the 2012 Bay Area Poets Coalition Poetry Contest.
